Dolbadarn Castle is a fortification built by Prince of Wales Llywelyn in the early 13th century at the base of Llanberis Pass, north Wales. The castle was important both militarily and symbolically in terms of Llywelyn's power and authority. It has a large stone which historian Richard Avent considers "the best surviving example of the Welsh round tower". In 1284, Dolbadarn was taken by Edward I of England, who took some of its timbers to build his Caernarfon Castle in Caernarfon. The castle was used as a residence for some years, before falling into ruins.

Small ruin of a tower, you can go inside for free and even climb to the top for nice view of the two lakes and mountains around. There is a short walk from the parking on the forest path which is also beautiful.

Free. Steep walk up to it. Wheelchairs and less mobile people may struggle. Week worth a visit for the picturesque views. Recommended

Well worth a visit. Steps within the castle are very narrow so take your time and enjoy the views from the little windows.
